Turning Your Feedback into School Improvements

Last November, we launched our new Student and Family Experience Surveys. The feedback we received from Cherry Park students and families provided us with valuable insights into our strengths and areas for improvement.

We received feedback from 198 students in 3rd-5th grade (88%) and 30 parents/guardians. These survey results have been analyzed to help guide our decision-making and school improvements.

Here are a few things we learned from the student survey:

Our Strength

  • 96.5% of students believe that adults at our school treat them with kindness.
  • 93.9% of students feel prepared and know exactly what to do during a school emergency.
  • 91.9% of students feel supported by their teachers and believe they are helped to learn from their mistakes.
  • 88.9% of students feel a strong personal connection, believing their teacher truly cares about them.

Progress Areas

  • 69.2% of students reported feeling safe while riding the school bus, a major jump from 38% from December 2024 YouthTruth results.
  • 74.7% of students reported feeling like an important part of their class, a significant increase from 37% from December 2024 YouthTruth results.

Areas for Improvement

  • Our 5th-grade students rated 17% lower than 3rd- and 4th-grade students when asked whether they can be themselves at school.
  • Our students receiving Special Education services rated 14.1% lower than other students when asked if the work they do in class makes them think hard and helps them learn. They also rated 13.8% lower when asked if their teacher helps them learn from their mistakes.

Together, we are empowering all of our Cherry Park students to reach their highest potential. Our ability to improve is driven by the feedback we receive from our families and students. We will continue to listen and learn, and we look forward to doing this again!
