School Schedules and Procedures:

Arrival Times

• Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:55 AM
• Wednesday: 9:55 AM (Late Start)
• Morning Routine: Front doors open at the arrival time. Students may head to the cafeteria for breakfast or go directly to their classrooms.
• Supervision Note: Please do not drop students off at the playground before the doors open, as there is no staff supervision available.

Dismissal Procedures

• Dismissal Time: 3:30 PM (Daily)
• Location: Students are dismissed from the front of the building under the covered area.
• Timeliness: Please ensure you are on time for pickup. We do not have staff available to supervise students after dismissal hours.

Transportation and Logistics

Bus Information

• Eligibility: Busing is available for students living outside of walking distance.
• Registration: All students must register for busing this year. Links will be sent via email and registration stations will be available at our Open House.
• Kindergarten Policy: For safety, a parent or guardian must be present at the bus stop to meet Kindergarten students, or they will not be released.

Meals

• Cost: Breakfast and lunch are free for all students this year.
• Breakfast Hours: 8:55 AM – 9:15 AM.
• Visitor Policy: We are currently unable to accommodate family members for meals inside the building.

“Kiss and Go” Policy

To maximize instructional time, we utilize a “Kiss and Go” arrival process:

• Families should say their goodbyes outside the building.
• This allows teachers to begin morning instruction promptly at 8:55 AM.
• Appointments: If you wish to meet with a teacher or volunteer, please contact the teacher directly to schedule a time.

Attendance Guidelines

Regular attendance is vital for student success. Our core instructional hours are 9:15 AM to 3:30 PM.

• Tardiness: Students arriving after 9:15 AM will be marked tardy.
• Early Release: To minimize disruptions, students will not be released between 2:45 PM and 3:30 PM unless the office is notified before 2:30 PM.
• Reporting Absences: Please call the office at 503-256-6501 to report an absence. If we do not hear from you, we will call to ensure your child is safe.

Get Involved

Parent Groups

• Site Council: A team of staff and community members that monitors and revises our school improvement plan and goals.
• Cherry Park Parent Group: This group plans community events, such as fundraisers and the school carnival.

After-School and Volunteer Programs

SMART Reading Program: We are looking for Site Coordinators to help oversee student reading sessions and literacy supporting just three to five hours a week can make a significant contribution at Cherry Park Elementary.  SMART is fun and further encourages children to read outside the classroom by giving them new books each month to take home and keep. Training is provided, and the program will run through mid-May. If interested in learning more, visit the SMART website www.getSMARToregon.org or call 971-634-1603.

SUN Program (IRCO): Runs Monday–Thursday, 3:30 PM – 5:30 PM. Schedules vary by class.
